PETALING JAYA, Dec 11 — The Cabinet today gave the green light to Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr. S.Subramaniam to continue holding discussions with the Education Ministry in resolving the dispute over the ministry’s decision to cap the subjects for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Dr Subramaniam said the Cabinet had requested him to find ways in resolving the problem which he stressed, must be fair to all students.

PETALING JAYA: Capping the number of subjects to be taken at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level is a good idea, said several academics.
National Parent-Teacher Associa tion Council president Assoc Prof Datuk Mohd Ali Hassan felt that allowing 12 subjects was fair.
“Our children need to grow and it is important that they enjoy their childhood and not spend all their time focusing on academic matters only,” he said.
